Vasco da Gama was a Portuguese explorer, one of the most successful in the European Age of Discovery and the commander of the first ships to sail directly from Europe to India.
Kappad beach , where the Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama landed on May 20, 1498 and it is located near Calicut ( Malabar area of Kerala ).And Vasco da Gama's entrace to appad beach gave the Europeans a sea route to reach the wealth of the Kerala Malabar coast, and resulted in European domination over India for about 450 years.
Now Kappad beach is one of the main tourist spot in Kerala because of its historical importance and beautiful beach.
